Handsome, is now known as Nitro around the barn and I had our first lesson together with Sally Cousins yesterday. He was a star. I usually arrive a little early in order to make certain that I am ready on time. I did not know if Nitro would mind standing on the trailer for twenty minutes or so, but he was fine and only whinnied once. We first did trot poles, then a cross pole and then went on to jump many of the other jumps that were small but colorful. Nitro was very good. He is starting to jump properly and I think he will become enthusiastic about it. Sally was very impressed. She liked his looks, his way of going and most important, his attitude. He was laid back about everything.

At St. Tims, he very quickly has become accustomed to joining in with the lesson riders going around the ring. In addition, he will stand quietly in the middle of the ring by himself while the riders jump a course. He has started to bend at the walk but not quite yet at the trot. I also am teaching him to move away from my leg. I could not be more pleased with him. Next weekend there is a hunter show nearby where I will take him just to hang out by the ring and take in the atmosphere. The weekend after that, Sally suggested joining her group that is schooling at a place near her farm that has a cross country course with lots of little logs etc. I really could not be more pleased with him.

I just wanted to let you know how well things are going with "Harper" now known as Pico. This fall 2009 he did his first training level event at Radnor and came in second. He then went to Waredaca, where the Tr three day was being held. The XC was quite challenging, but he was wonderful, albeit with a bit of time. He was tired for stadium and it was pouring rain, ended up in seventh in a fairly large field.

Let me tell you Gem is the (almost best horse in the world). I have to reserve the "best horse in the world" title for Miss Informed. We did our first hunter pace at the Tryon Hound's today. He was spectacular. I couldn't have asked for a better ride. We started out by passing the hounds (always a great place to start a hunter pace with a fresh horse and drop in temperature)...he didn't care. We then had to proceed down the trail through a covered bridge (not much taller than Gem)....no problem. We got to pass cows...no issues. We went by all sorts of big jumps (never looked twice). We jumped some of the smaller jumps. My friend came down with her horse and Gem was without any of his pasture mates (followed a strange horse)...just fine. I moved him to the front for the second half of the trail (he was fearless). He crossed water, climbed hills, cantered in the fields...brilliant. He is such a blessing. He makes me proud every time I ride him. Thank you so much for this beautiful horse. He is handsome inside and out!

Hi Pat, I wanted to send you an update on Eeyore/Super Monster. I have shown him several times this season and we have come in Reserve or Champion almost every time. I moved him up to the 2'6" division a few weeks ago and he was incredible! He has been such an easy horse to work with and train. We are even going on our first foxhunt this week. Whenever any of my friends are looking for prospects I'll definitely send them your way. Thanks!

I got Panini's papers yesterday. Thanks so much. It was interesting to read on the back where she raced when she won. I have to say, I Iove the OTTB's. I am really enjoying my girl. Thanks again and keep in touch!

'Easy to be a good buyer when there are nice choices! I love Loveton he is very cool. I lunged him this morning he was so good...got on at the mounting block again no issues...W/T in the ring and then went for a walk around the farm by himself! Flat footed and relaxed. Not too bad for only his 2nd ride since racing! He is a cool cool horse.'

A trainer at the barn where Harper (competing as Pico Digio) boards recently said, "It is horses like him that keep people going back to the track for their prospects."

Magical Gem 8yr TB G stakes earner of over $300K and his new career. I am so impressed with Gem. He got new shoes and was great for the farrier. My husband and I do Revolutionary War Re-enactments and we had a drill today I took Gem just to see how he would do and he was awesome. He is so sensible. He has a huge trot stride and comfortable canter. He loves his peppermints . Everyone he meets is so impressed with his good looks and attitude. I think he is going to be a stellar hunter pace horse and plan to work with him over the Summer to get him in condition for the Fall hunter pace series. I am so glad we found each other!

It was a great pleasure to finally meet you yesterday. I had never seen a vet check before, and it was of great interest to me. I appreciate all of the knowledge that both you and Dr. Berkowitz shared with me during my visit. Dr Berkowitz did tell me that every time you presented a horse for pre certs they were always perfect, and how much he enjoyed looking at your horses and dealing with you.

Well I can tell you from my own personal experience in dealing w/ Pat. I've bought 3 horses from her in the past few years and every project horse that I purchased from her all vetted out perfectly when I re-sold them. I wanted another project and went back for my 2nd and then,my 3rd horse I was very comfortable, and felt as if Pat really knew what she was talking bout...I've also sold those horses who've passed their vetting's,and they too have gone on to be successful show hunters..

I think you have nice taste in horses and you were by far the most professional and honest "sales" barn person I have dealt with ever. It was a pleasure and look forward to keeping in touch when my clients are ready to buy.

How do you find such great looking/moving horses??? I had looked for a year at all different price ranges and didn't see a fraction of nice horses compared to what you have.
